Ouch, that hurt DADDY!!

On Saturday I went out for a long run and came home to Derrek and Nathan, which I was expecting. Drew was doing a triathlon on Saturday so I knew he needed to go to that right before I would get home. When I asked where Rylie was the kids quickly responded that "Dad had taken her to the Dr. and to call him right away!"
A little background---The first weekend in April we were out with our neighbors talking and the kids were playing this silly game with a ball and broom sticks. One of the sticks broke and we set it aside. Well she got a hold of it and apparently got a huge sliver, Drew was the one that ran to her rescue and took care of her, all I saw was the gigantic sliver. Anyway it was sore off and on the next little while-as to be expected. But then on Friday night out of the blue she started complaining about it and it was a little tight and swollen. I figured it was something we could wait on until Monday and I would finally take her to the Doctor. Well on Saturday when she woke up she was crying about it and Drew said that her finger was double in size and he just barely squeezed it and puss popped right out. He took her to the Dr. and they had to numb it (2 different sticks with the needle, while Drew had to hold her down) then they cut into it and fished around for 15 minutes pulling out 3 different chunks of wood pieces. She, the Dr., kept digging, which looked quite brutal to make sure Rylie wouldn't have to come back and have this done again. She was such a trooper, and so was her dad, he missed his triathlon to hold her and comfort through the whole process. I hope we got all the little slivers because I am not sure I could take her back knowing what was in store. So this picture is of her after they numbed her finger they had her "soak" it and then gave her a sucker and a movie to watch. In the end she walked away with a cool ring and stickers and an actual smile.

Happy Easter

The kids weren't quite sure what to think when they woke up and couldn't see any Easter baskets out waiting for them. This year the Easter Bunny hid them and they seemed to have so much fun trying to find them. Rylie wasn't quite sure what to think, all she knew was that she had a bucket full of candy with her name written all over it. Holidays like this are so much more enjoyable when you see the delight in kids eyes with such simple things.

My dancing queen!

Rylie just loves to dance and she will put on her TUTU and dance the night away. She even gets her "princess" shoes on or her new shiny patent leather church shoes and has a blast. She begged me to take pictures of her dancing and I finally agreed and now I finally uploaded them so I could blog. She is so much fun, I tell you girls can be soooo different from boys.

Create

I thought this vidoe was so great and quite powerful, I just had to post it. It is only a couple of minutes long but well worth it.
