Fun at the Reservoir

On Saturday night we were trying to figure out what to do and we didn't feel like sitting around. We decided to call up Uncle Taylor and Aunt Liz and see if they wanted to take Caden up to the reservoir with us. They are new to Spanish Fork and we thought we would let them see what real swimming was all about. So we headed up there and the kids had a blast, it was just the perfect thing to do. Rylie had so much fun throwing the sand into the water and she loved bending over and sticking her forehead in it. They were not too happy to leave but it was 8pm and they had goose bumps from head to toe so we thought it was best. Plus they definitely needed to take a bath since they smelled a little fishy. It was a fun, FREE little get out of the house moment, thanks for going with us Taylor and Liz.

First Swim Meet!!!

Today was Derrek's first swim meet of the summer and it was so fun to watch him do his events. These first two pictures, Derrek is on the block getting ready for the 25 yard butterfly. He is just like a fish and I am so impressed with him every time I get to see him swim. I think in the fly he took 3rd place in his heat and did a pretty awesome job, though you could tell the last few yards were very tiring on him.

Here Derrek is competing in the 50 yard freestyle, for those of you who don't know, you have to go to one of the pool and back. He was quite shocked to learn that he had to do 50 yards instead of 25 but again he totally rocked and he took 1st place. He is such a smooth swimmer and could be really good if he keeps it up. (I hope, I hope, I hope!)

This is just a picture of Nathan and Rylie trying so hard to be patient. They of course have nothing to keep them occupied so they started to loose it after 2 hours. I did finally take them home while Drew and Derrek stayed behind to finish up the events. Derrek had one more event and after waiting it out for another hour and learning it would still be another hour he finally came home too. It is hard for them to be there that long and I don't' want him to hate it and not look forward to the swim meets. Way to go Derrek you did so good today.

Happy 12th Anniversary!

It has been a really long and exciting week. After my birthday on Sunday along with Fathers Day, we celebrated Nate's birthday and now it is our Anniversary. Needless to say, June is a crazy month, and then we have Rylie's birthday in less than 2 weeks, YIKES! Well thanks to Drew and his mom we were able to go out for the night and it was great. We got a hotel in Salt Lake and just spent the day and night KID FREE! We did some things we have never had the chance to do like going to Tucano's and going to the conference center and taking that tour. We were kicking ourselves for not bringing the camera to all of this but that is so us to forget the camera every time we need it. We also hung out at the Gateway doing some shopping and had quite the time. It is so funny to watch the people there at 6pm and then see who comes out at 10pm, we left shortly after that, it was too weird.
We had an awesome time and we couldn't have done it with out the help of the kids Grandma Corry, so our big thanks go out to you. The kids will miss you, they get so spoiled when you are here.

Happy Birthday Nathan!!!

Today was Nathan's Birthday and he was busy from the time he woke up until the time he went to bed. It was quite the day and we still have stuff we need to do to make up for it. Drew took the day off work and so we started the day off with Drew cooking a "big" breakfast and opening presents. He got a Tom Brady Jersey, he is a huge fan of this football QB. He also got a U of U, he loves the U too, but I think that is more because it is opposite what Derrek likes and he always has to go the other way just to bug him. He also got his basketball standard, YEAH!! This was a favorite, he has been going to Canyon Elementary as often as we would take him to shoot hoops but that just wasn't often enough. Now he can go out and shoot anytime he wants. Sorry Woodbrey family, Nate is anxious to get moving in the morning and he has already been caught out there shooting hoops at 7am. In some of the pictures Rylie just had to be center of attention, that camera came out and she went right in front of it ready for it to shoot her and no one else. I think Derrek was feeling a little out of the loop too, seeings how he took some silly pictures too. We then were off to swim team practice for Derrek. When we came home we headed home to put together the basketball hoop, what we thought would be a snap, not so much. Luckily we had our friend Gary close by and he came to the rescue and 3 hours later it was up and ready to play. Nathan didn't care too much, he was down stairs playing Mario Kart on the WII, which is one that I highly recommend. For lunch we went to Wingers, a favorite of Nate's. I am sure most of it is because they serve you pop corn, but what ever. After all that it was off to baseball games, both Derrek and Nate had a game. Finally it was time to be at home for cake and ice cream. Yes the cake is homemade and you can totally tell. I spent a lot of time outlining that stuff to have it turn out small and misshapen, oh well he didn't mind. I am obviously no professional.
Happy Birthday Nate, we love you.

Provo Riverwoods 10 mile race

Okay, we did it and it was a success. Saturday I ran the Riverwoods 10 mile race with my friend Nikki and her sister Angie. We stressed and worried about so many things that our husbands just laughed when the others number would show up on the caller ID. By the end of the week the race consumed our days and that is all we talked about. We just hoped we could make it on our bum knees and lack of experience.Well we did it, it was awesome and we even did it faster than we were aiming for, 1 hour 46 min. Nikki and Angie you guys totally rocked on Saturday, can't wait until the next race. Yes that is right, we are now in training for our 1/2 marathon in August. YEAH!!

SWIM TEAM!

Swim team has officially begun, YEAH!! After a week of cold weather we had our first two practices this week. I am really excited for Derrek, but I can't say the same enthusiasm comes from his directions. He was on a swim team in Phoenix and it was so much fun and he was really good at it. So we decided to have him do it again, but it took some talking to from a friend to finally get him to agree. He hasn't complained about it yet, but it is just the first week. I think I want so badly for someone in my family to follow in my footsteps, but for some reason my boys are more into football and baseball. Maybe there is hope in Rylie.

Girls Weekend

I guess my mom finally decided to take the hint and get our pictures emailed to us from the "girls" weekend. So I thought I would add the rest of the pictures that I didn't have. Thanks Mom!!!
We had so much fun at our "girls" weekend, as you can see even Rylie got totally tuckered out. We had lots of fun eating out, relaxing and getting our toes done, even the little girls thought that was great. Can't wait until next time.
