Out of the mouths of babes

I write this post only because I want to remember some of the things my kids say.
Lately we have been on a kick when talking with Derrek and Nathan and they are trying to say something and it is just not coming out to ask, "What you talking about Willis?"
While feeding Rylie lunch the other day I was trying to make a point to her and it just was not coming out the way I needed it to and she looked at me with quite the bewildered look and said, "What you talking about Willis?" It was so funny because it came from my 2 year old and it was so fitting for the moment. Sometimes these little ones really are listening to what is going on in their environment.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

It has been almost a month since Christmas and that is pretty much how long I have been working on the boys rooms. They each wanted their rooms decked out in their favorite NFL team and so that is what we have been doing. For Christmas they got comforters, pillows, flags, and a valance representing their team and then paint to match. Their rooms were originally tan and we put up the chair rail and then painted the lower half white and then painted above that the great colors represented here in these pictures. The kids are thrilled with how the rooms turned out and to me that is all that matters. This is Nathans room and he is notorious for changing teams every year so we told him after working so long on this room he can be a fan of whatever team he wants but his room will reaming a Buccaneer room.

Green Bay Packers

This is Derrek's room and he has forever been a Green Bay Packer's fan, mostly because of Brett Farve. For Christmas he too got a blanket, flag, valance and pillows in his team colors. The room is a little wild, but the more you look at it the more you just get used to it. He loves it and was really excited to have his room the way he wants it, finally. It has been lots of work, especially that stripe, but it was well worth it to see how excited they were when it was done.

100th Post

I finally made it to 100 posts. I don't know how so many of you have already made it to 100 posts and made it a long long time ago. But I finally made it and was excited about that.

Hot Shot!

Nathan has been playing basketball the past month and we have been meaning to blog about it but we kept forgetting his pictures. To me it is just not the same when you can add some to your writing.
Here is Nathan in the action, just getting ready to pass it to his team mates.

It took a few games for him to really come alive but today he was rocking the place up. He was one of the best re bounders out there and it really helped his team out.

They have to wear bracelets of different colors, matching the other team members, so they know who they are guarding.

He is our little hustler!

Here he is making a shot and it was nothing but net. He was on fire today. He scored 18 of the 30 points this game and he was so excited.

Local Celebrity

At Nate's basketball game today Gary Wilkenson, who plays for Utah State's basketball team was there. Though he is a little over rated the kids were flocking at him right and left. Pretty much everyone that had a ball was in line to have him sign it, my son included. I will give this to him, he was a great sport with this line of fans and talked to all the little kids and it only drew more attention to him.

Hockey!

While at Derrek's hockey lesson we got to thinking it might be fun to take him to a hockey game and get a feel for what it is like by watching it. We decided to jump aboard and bought tickets to the USU vs. BYU hockey game this weekend and we had such a blast. We have never been to a hockey game and it was such a different atmosphere. It was non stop action and the kids really enjoyed the whole game, they were quite disappointed when we had to leave so we could put Rylie in bed. I guess we are now fans of a new sport, I suggest all to give it a try.

Learning to Skate

This year Derrek didn't want to do basketball but we wanted him to do something during the winter months to stay active. We decided to put him in a "Learn to Skate--Hockey" program offered here at the ice arena. He was really excited to do this because it was something way different than he has ever done and he thought it would be lots of fun. He only goes once a week for 8 weeks so it is not too time consuming at all, but. . . . .
Derrek is not so great on his feet and he spent more time falling or trying not to fall that I am not sure he learned much his first shot at this. He took it really well at first, even got up from hos falls laughing, but by the end of the lesson I think he was trying really hard to suppress his tears and just hoping he could make it to the exit without falling again. I am sure he woke up black and blue on his rear end. I will say this though, I am really proud of him because he never wanted to quit the whole lesson and you could tell he was hurting and he just kept getting right back up on his skates and trying again. Hopefully each lesson will go a little better and he will actually be able to enjoy it up on his feet.

Aren't I So Dang Cute!

Sometimes I am pretty sure Rylie knows when she looks just so dang cute. On Sunday she was prancing around as if she were the royal princess of our family (which in reality she is) and she asked me to take a picture of her because she was so cute. So I did, because really she did look so cute to me.

Black Eye!

Rylie woke up on Saturday morning around 4:45am just screaming. We went in there thinking she must have fallen out of bed, but she was just sitting up in her bed still in her covers crying. She never said what happened, calmed down and went to bed. Though the pictures don't do it Justice, she woke up that morning with a black eye. She must have hit the corner of her bed rail, that is the only thing we can think of, sad stuff.

Aren't they so cute?

On Saturday before putting Rylie to down for a nap, we read from the "little critter" book. She wasn't satisfied with the 5 stories I read to her and asked if she could just read for a little while. Of course I can't say no to that. I went in a little later to cover her up and put the book away and this is what I found. Too cute not to take a picture so I can always remember this moment.

I lost my tooth!!

Nathan has been waiting very patiently to loose his second tooth ever since he lost his first, which was a long time ago. It has been kind of wiggly and he has worked on getting it more loose, but to no avail. Last Friday he was eating Nerds and came up and said that one of them hit his tooth and now it was just hanging there. He very bravely grabbed the tooth and pulled it out. He was so excited and it was the only thin he talked about all weekend.
