So Peaceful!

Aren't little kids so peaceful when they are asleep. Rylie is the type of girl that really doesn't sleep anywhere but her bed. There is no rocking her to sleep there is nothing as good as her bed. Today after lunch I asked her if she wanted to go take a nap and she said she would play for "1 more minute." She went downstairs where Nate was playing the wii and I thought that it was really quiet. I went downstairs and found her fast asleep on top of Lego's and with her hands full of Lego guys. She loves Lego's just as much as my boys do and apparently they wore her right out today. Nate said, "isn't that so cute, Mom?" I couldn't resist taking some pictures because it was too cute and this has never happened before, and it just might not ever happen again.

Lego Mania

Derrek is our Lego Mania Man! He loves to build with Lego's and some days it could occupy his time for the whole day. He comes up with some pretty creative sets that pictures just don't do them justice. Like this one, he built an AT AT (like those from star wars) and this one even has a swivel head. He really has wanted me to blog about some of the things he has built so I thought "why not!" Double click to get a better view of the AT AT but like I said the picture just doesn't do it justice, it is pretty cool.

Presidency Meeting

So tonight we had a presidency meeting at my house and it got off to quite the start. When Tandy and Cora showed up police sirens were going like crazy down the street. Tandy said, "lets go follow them and see where they are going." So we really do go hop in her car and follow in the direction they were going. We thought everyone else had the same idea too since we were in a long line of cars going down to the river bottoms. When everyone kind of dispersed we turned around and decided that those cars had lead us astray. We then went towards main street and then turned around again and went back towards our homes and saw the sight of our lives, THIS
a big fat NOTHING!!! We just thought we would have an exciting adventure, but not so much.

Jake Whitiker

Derrek loves to write his own books and he has been wanting to have help writing one up on the computer with his dad. They have been faithfully working on it a little each day and it is now complete. He was hoping I would share it with you guys on the blog. I didn't know quite how to do that since it is a couple of pages long so we have put in chapter 1. They are short chapters, but quite fun to read and kind of amazing since it is written by a 9 year old.

Jake Whitaker

Somewhere in the jungle of Africa, 1998

Chapter 1
The find

In the cold dark hollows of the rain forest. Jake sat hunch over his latest find. The broke sculpture looked harmless enough. Little did Jake know that it would bring so much destruction to the world around him?
The Incan statue of the fire king was cursed by the tribal healer after the death of his first son Isicara. The healer blamed the fire king for the illness that first took his sons sight and then his life. That was three hundred years earlier and the statue has brought nothing but heart ache since.
As Jake pondered on the legend of the fire king, his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the engine. Looking up Jake had just enough time to jump out of the way before the military transport vehicle rolled of the very spot that Jake had been.
Jake stayed hid as he watched the Congo militia leader shout orders. The fighter dispersed through the jungle in search of the ancient Incan city and vast treasure that awaited them. After a few minutes Jake came out of his hiding spot and sprinted to the empty truck. Searching around he found an empty compartment where he hid.

24th of July

It isn't your traditional way to celebrate the 24th of July but it was definitely the pioneer way. I will say this though, we had lots of fun doing it. We spent the day at Drew's sister's future home that they are building doing what ever we could to help them out. They are in the process of back filling the basement, getting ready to pour the floor. Typically you might get a back hoe to do this but that wasn't going to happen over the holiday and for those who know the Corry family, you don't waist a day just because of that. So we filled wheel barrows one at a time and dumped it over the walls and filled in the floor. We finally got smart and actually started filling 2 wheelbarrows at a time and it went a little faster. We definitely got our work out this day and we also had some good laughs.
It has been a running joke among the Corry's that Drew is the "thick" one. This started a few years ago when his brother, Austin, was trying to say that he had a more muscular build then the other brothers. The compliment did not come out in a very good way. While trying to work the wheel barrow the one that Austin was handling blew a tire and was a little difficult to manage. Austin and his "petite frame" could not handle the task. Luckily I was there to bail him out. Becky and I proved that women can handle a wheel barrow just as good as the men.
We had a great day and are very thankful to Becky and Chris for letting our family help out with their new home.

My First Lost Tooth

Today after Sacrament Nathan came up to me in the hall and said he had a loose tooth. This was so out of the blue that I of course had to see for myself. Sure enough it wasn't just loose, but it was really loose. I told him to work at it all day and get that thing out. He did. He wiggled off and on and then tonight he sat in front of the mirror until it came out. YEAH!!! He was so excited. We told him he probably wouldn't loose a tooth for another year based on when Derrek lost his first tooth so this was a great surprise for him.

Fun in the Sun!!

Today was Derrek's last swim meet of the season and he did an incredible job this year and even had lots of fun doing it. The first meet he swam at his time for the Butterfly (his favorite stroke)was 28:45, by the end he had improved that to 23:40 at yesterdays swim meet. For those of you who understand swimming and taking time off, this is a huge improvement and we are very proud of him. After a long day of exercise and work we decided to take the kids to Veterans Pool. I was especially excited to go to the pool after a long run. I decided to run to Derrek's swim meet since it was in Payson, though I guess I must also admit I somewhat wimped out as well. It was a 9 1/2 mile run and when I was into it about 7.2 miles, Drew drove by on the way to the meet and asked if I wanted a ride and I caved in, it was jut too tempting. But I still have plenty of Saturday's left to get long runs in before my 1/2. Anyway back to the matter at hand, we went to Veteran's pool and everyone had such a good time, we even ran into some friends and that gave Derrek someone to play with. the picture was taken doing one of those wonderful 15 minute pool checks, what else are you going to do? We ended the day with some relaxing entertainment of a movie and a treat, and all of our eyes were barely open.

Summer Fun!

After a long day, of nothing, I went outside to finish watering our garden and Rylie followed behind. She didn't get too far however because she found her pool on our deck still full of water and it was warm. To get some background on this sweet little girl you have to know she doesn't really love her pool, or at least up to this point. We had taken her swimming one time and she had so much fun we thought it would be fun to get her a little pool she can just splash around in at our house. Well she gets all upset if the slightest bubble is made or piece of grass gets in there and especially if a bug gets in there. She is so afraid it will "get her." We would fill her pool up and get her all excited and she would never sit down in it and just stood around pointing out everything that was in the water. Well yesterday she must have decided that that kind of swimming was just no fun. I didn't stop to put her in her suit because I was too afraid it would ruin the progress she had just made so I let her do it her way. She had so much fun, she started out just standing in it, then she put her head in it, then she sat down in it and then finally to my surprise she laid down in it. So that is why there were so many pictures of her in her pool. This is the first time she just let loose. We finally got the boys out to jump on the tramp with the sprinkler and she thought that looked like so much fun too. I didn't think she would love it but we tried her out on it and she just giggled away, it was just too cute. Probably one of those great video moments that we were just unable to do. Yes I do know her diaper is full, way full but like I said she was having so much fun I didn't want to ruin it by taking her in and changing her. I am sure if I had taken the time to dress her appropriately the appeal would have left. They had such a great time and we had to promise them we would do it again just to get them to come inside. We also needed to call it a day because Rylies diaper was so full and heavy it finally gave up and could no longer stay on. She was fine jumping with nothing on but I am not sure my neighbors would have appreciated such a sight.

Like Father, Like Daughter

Saturday after getting back from Derrek's swim meet I think Drew had ants in his pants. It drives him crazy to just sit around on a Saturday when things could be getting done. So this is what I got out of the shower to, Drew cleaning blinds. This is probably on of the worst house chores to do and yet my husband thinks to do it and does it. Rylie wanted so badly to help so she got herself a wet wipe and got to work. I hope she is this eager to help in a few years.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!!!

Friday night Drew had tickets to the Owlz game so we called up our friends, Gary and Nikki, and asked them to go with us. We had a pretty good time, though I am not sure how much of the game Nikki and I really saw. Between us talking and trying to care for our little girls we didn't really see much. We had the perfect seats, we were right behind home plate and covered from the sun the whole game. That night the announcer was Collin Raye, though I did not believe Drew when he told me that. The announcers box was right behind us and I looked back at this scruffy looking man who resembled Collin Raye but was 20-30 lbs. heavier, but sure enough it was him and before I realized it, too late for a picture. Nikki and I also ended up going to different seats after being scolded and given a lecture to by the lady in front of us, apparently Rylie was beating her up. She kept elbowing this lady in the back and the lady was even kind enough to show us an example by elbowing her own husband just to show us what it looked like. Whatever lady, I am sure Rylie was really just digging into your back. But we were nice enough just to move and avoid any further frustration on her behalf.

We had parking passes too so we just met up with our friends in the parking lot. When our little girls got out, to much surprise, they were both dressed the same way. Exactly the same way, we thought it was too cute to pass up on a picture moment. Great minds think alike I guess.

Here are our little angels, Maci and Rylie, just trying to be patient with us. They kept themselves entertained and they were actually really good. They were not too fond of the Owl, "Hoot" so no pictures of them together.

Here is about the only picture we actually took of the game thanks to Nate, he loves taking pictures with the camera and this is what he took, not too bad.

Rylie, Rylie, Rylie!

Those of you who know Rylie, know that she loves to get into things when our backs are turned.
We had just returned home from a great weekend visiting Grandma Gillespie and were outside getting a few things done. When what to my surprise should appear but a little Rylie with lotion from ear to ear. She then proceeded to show me how she "shared" her lotion with her new baby and thought it was so great. So of course we had to take pictures and blog about our little angel.

Happy Birthday Rylie

I know I am a little late but it has been a very crazy week, and I couldn't forget to blog about Rylie's birthday. She has such a great day, though I am sure she was a little confused as to why we were making such a big deal all day long. We started out with presents and she was totally excited that she was getting all this loot and for no apparent reason.

She mostly got dolls and was really excited to finally get that stroller. She of course was with me when I bought it and was not so happy when she didn't get it that day and anytime the word "stroller" was mentioned she thought she was getting her doll stroller and we started the whole fit over again.

Her favorite Breakfast food is pancakes so that is what our little princess got. She was not so willing to pose for a picture but we took one anyway. My boys thought she had hair like a rock band in these pictures so I had to post them. She usually goes to town on pancakes but was so excited to get back to her stroller I think she ate one and she was done.

After we got going for the day we took off to Veteran's Pool where we all had a blast. She loved going down the slides with us and especially had fun just swimming in the water. She is a little fish and I wasn't sure we were going to get her out of the pool, but due to baseball games we did unfortunately have to leave before she was ready.
These are some pictures of her cake and we won't say much about that. I usually try not to procrastinate on things like this but this one time I was a sucky mom. I was going to do a barbie cake and then decided to do a regular cake because she wouldn't know the difference. Last minute I ended up trying to throw together a Barbie cake and this is how it turned out. Not at all how it was saw it in my head but when you do it at 5pm the day of her birthday, what can you expect. She loved it and that is all that matters, next year I won't get away with this so it will be better. Overall it was a fun filled day and she thought she was something else. We love you Rylie and look forward to this new and exciting year of the "terrible two's!"
