We have a WINNER!

The boys school (Greenville Elementary) has a tradition for doing what is labeled "The Greenville Mile." In P.E. each grade starts training for this event and as it gets closer they start having qualifying runs. There are 3 boys and 3 girls that make it from each grade, and Nathan was one of those in his class who made it to the final run. He would run against all the other third grade boys, which totalled 24 runners.

Here he is before the race trying to remain calm.

Nathan and Cole, his good Friend that lives in our col-de-sac
Of course there is Rylie--trying to remain patient :-)
They run up hill for 1/2 mile then get the reprieve of running down hill the last 1/2 mile. Here is Nathan (who was in first but ran out of gas) coming in 2nd.

The "official" finishers
Because he was in the top 3 to finish, this qualified him to go to Sky View High school to compete against 3 other schools in the area. So again the top 3 boys and girls from each grade went on, and here they just combined the girls and boys (in each grade) into one run so he ran against 24
other kids.

Starting line
Lap 1 (he went out WAY to fast--we just knew he would loose his steam.
Lap 2, gaining on some of the kids

Lap 3, where are all the runners?
And we have a winner of the Cache North Mile coming in at 6 min 42 sec. Wow, that is fast-I tried doing that the next day on one of my runs and lasted a 1/4 mile--way to go Nate

The first place boy and girl

Our Winner :-) What an awesome achievement, I was quite proud of how hard he ran he just made it look so easy. He was on cloud nine for the next couple of days, telling any one that would listen. Good Job!

That is so great I am so excited for him. Looks like we have someone who takes after his mother.
